COMPRESSED AIR FOR ANALYSERS

Compressed air for analysers

Oil-free solutions for precise laboratory analyses

In modern laboratories, a reliable compressed air supply for analysers is a decisive factor for reproducible measurement results and trouble-free operation. Rheometers, spectroscopes and particle analysers in particular require oil-free compressed air of constant quality in order to protect sensitive components and avoid measurement deviations. Dürr Technik has been developing oil-free laboratory compressors and compressed air stations for decades, which are specially designed for analytical applications in the laboratory.

Compressed air for particle analysers

In particle analysis, for example in dynamic image analysis, compressed air is used to feed and mix the product. Particle analysers measure the particle size and shape of powders, granulates or suspensions. The prerequisite for this is oil-free compressed air, free of particles and moisture. Modular compressed air stations from Dürr Technik cover different volume flows and pressure ranges and can be flexibly adapted to laboratory requirements. They are established as a compressor solution for common analysers and are ideally suited as a compressed air source for particle measuring devices from leading manufacturers such as Sympatec, Retsch Technology or Fritsch.

Oil-free compressed air for spectroscopes

Spectroscopes also require clean compressed air, for example as an oxidising gas or to support stable analysis processes. Whether atomic absorption spectrometers or terahertz systems: oil-free compressed air compressors ensure safe operation without the risk of contamination and reduce maintenance costs in the laboratory.

Compressed air for rheometers and air bearings

Rheometers for determining rheological properties such as viscoelasticity or flow behaviour require compressed air for air bearings of a defined quality. Fluctuations or impurities have a direct effect on the measuring accuracy. The oil-free SICOLAB compressor from Dürr Technik produces constantly clean compressed air thanks to integrated drying and filtration. It is successfully used as a compressed air rheometer solution, including for MCR rheometers.

Questions and answers

What requirements apply to compressed air for analysers?
Analysers require oil-free, dry and particle-free compressed air. These requirements usually correspond to the compressed air classes according to ISO 8573 1, usually class 1:3:1, in order to avoid measurement errors and contamination.
Why is oil-free compressed air particularly important for rheometers?
Rheometers often use compressed air for air bearings. Oil or moisture can impair the bearing function and negatively affect the measuring accuracy.
Can one laboratory compressor supply several analysers?
Yes, a central compressed air station can supply several analysers if designed accordingly. Alternatively, decentralised solutions such as the SICOLAB mini make sense for individual devices.
What is the difference between SICOLAB and SICOLAB mini?
The SICOLAB is designed for higher volume flows and centralised applications, while the SICOLAB mini is a compact solution for individual workstations and smaller analysers.
Are oil-free compressors high-maintenance?
Oil-free laboratory compressors significantly reduce maintenance costs, as no oil change is required and the risk of contamination is minimised.
